November Wrap Up

Hey guys! I hope you all had a great November. I decided to fill this post out as the month went on rather than all at once at the end of the month and it has definitely helped! This post hasn’t taken nearly as long as it wold have done if I had done it all at once and I think I am definitely going to keep filling out my Wrap Up posts throughout the month. Looking back over the month, I definitely need to go onto a book buying ban until at least the new year! I feel like I had a great reading month and I am well on my way to completing this year’s Goodreads Reading Challenge with 87/90 books read so far.

This has been a fantastic month for me and I cannot even believe that it is nearly the end of the year already! In other news, I have already put the Christmas decorations up (bar the tree) and the house is looking pretty festive!

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the Broke and Bookish

Hey guys! First of all, happy valentines day to everyone who celebrates it! I hope you all have an amazing day with loves, both old and new! This weeks TTT is sticking to the theme of valentines with the theme of romance tropes! There are so many things you can do with this, but I am going to go with my top ten ships! I love reading books with the right ships with slow burning romances and I want to share my favourite ships with you guys this week! There may be a couple of ships in there that either sunk or are still not so clear because the series is still going! So, in no particular order…

10. ACOMAF Feyre and Rhysand – I think that Rhys is completely dreamy and I absolutely love the relationship that Feyre and Rhys have and I am SO looking forward to seeing more of them in May

9. img_2035 All of the ships in Six of Crows, but especially Kaz and Inej – So, I totally shippity ship all of our tropes in this book, but my major ship is Inej and Kaz because I feel like they deserve it the most after everything they have been through in life and I feel like the deserve it most because of everything they still have to go through before they get there…

8. abovam Hugo and Diamond – I adored their relationship from the very beginning and it gets so much more intense in the second book! I absolutely cannot wait to see more of these two in the future!

7. Empire of Storms Aelin and Rowan – These two are one of my favourite ships of ever because of everything that happened! I also think that, after the ending, it completely cemented the ship in my mind!

6. img_1970 Henrietta and Blackwood – Ok, so, this ship hasn’t actually happened… but I have a really good feeling about it and it is the ship that I am on for this series… I am hoping it goes that way!

5. Red Queen Mare and Maven – I am actually currently reading King’s Cage (at the time of writing which is Sunday evening), and I have, and continue, to ship the idea of Maven and Mare. I definitely feel that there is room for redemption in there and I am hoping that my ship does not sink! #TeamMaven

4. shadow and bone Darkling and Alina – Ok, so this ship sunk. I rode the ship of hope the entire way through the book and I was really upset with the ending! I definitely feel like these two had a much better connection than the ship that was followed…

3. Splintered Alyssa and Morpheus – This was my favourite ship throughout this entire series! I was dissatisfied with how things were figured out at the end, but I am glad it sort of worked out!

2. Shatter Me Juliette and Warner – These two!! I was #TeamWarner from the very beginning and this is and will always remain one of my favourite ships!

1. the selection America and Maxon – I loved watching these two interacting and I did really enjoy the romance within this book – despite the mixed opinions!

January Wrap – Up

Hey guys!! I feel like January went really slowly… almost like it didn’t want to end AT ALL!!! Or is that just me? I have been ill for the most part of it, which is probably why it went so slowly for me! Anyway, because I was ill for the beginning of January (like couldn’t get out of bed ill), and I fell ill again, and my son was ill and my husband fell ill (with the man flu), I didn’t have such a great month reading. However, I did get through some books, and here they are…

Read:

The Accident Season by Moira Fowley – Doyle – 3/5 stars – This was my first read of 2017 and I was pretty disappointed…

Wanted by Betsy Schow – ARC , 5/5 Stars– This is by far one of my favourite series out there so far! This is the second book and I LOVED it

City of Bones by Cassandra Clare – 4/5 stars – This was my first time reading Clare and I had a ball!!

City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare – 4/5 stars – Again, I had a great time reading this!

The Lost Girl by Candy Atkins – 5/5 Stars – I was sent a signed copy of both the first book in the series and this one as well… and ironically enough it got lost in the post. They had to send it again!!

Last Stand by Rachel. E. Carter, ARC – 5/5 stars – This was the final instalment in the series… and it was everything I wanted and so much more!!

Books Started:

City of Glass by Cassandra Clare – I did start this book, and then I stopped about 1/4 of the way through to beta read something. When I came back to it, I found I was no longer in the right mood for it. I didn’t want to force myself to read through it when I was enjoying it because I know I won’t like it if I do! I will come back to this when the mood takes me 😀

A Shadow Bright and Burning by Jessica Cluess – I am currently reading this and, whilst I am enjoying myself, it hasn’t blown me away.

This feature is all about highlighting books that I have read but it was either a while back or I just feel like I haven’t spoken about them enough! This weeks Throwback Thursday is:

Splintered

I absolutely adored this book. I was so worried going into it that Howard was going to ruin the original story, but she didn’t!! I loved the madness and everything. Obviously I am #TeamMorpheus!! Plus that cover is just gorgeous!!

Hey guys! This weeks TTT is top ten christmas wishlist. There are so many books that I want, it is pretty hard to narrow down this list! Some of them are physical copies of books that I have already read, whilst others are new books that I want.

10. what we sa What We Saw by Aaron Hartzler I loved this book! I really want a physical copy of this book just so I can stroke it and sleep with it under my pillow…

9. The Program The Programme by Suzanne Young. This is a book that I have heard a lot about, but have never had the chance read it yet – I cannot wait to get my hands on this book!

8. Red Queen Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard. I enjoyed this book a lot more than I thought I would and I would love to have my own physical copy of it!

7. cinder Cinder by Marissa Meyer. I actually own (and am currently reading) a copy of Winter, so I need to complete this set of physical copies of my shelf by buying the first three in the series!

6. the young elites The Young Elites by Marie Lu. I have been anxious to read this book for a long while!

5. tiny pretty things Tiny Pretty Things by Sona Charaipotra and Dhonielle Clayton. Who would not want to own a physical copy of this book???

4. Introductions, ghost bird The Academy Series by C. L. Stone. I actually own all of the Academy books as an E – Copy – whether that be The Scarab Beetle series or the Ghost Bird – What I would love is to own physical copies!

3. game of thrones A Song of Ice and Fire series. Because life isn’t complete without ASOIAF.

2. Black Ice Black Ice by Becca Fitzpatrick. I have had this on my TBR for quite some time now – I really want to be able to take it off of the list!

Hey guys! This weeks TTT is a Thanksgiving Freebie! So, the only thing I seem to actually know about Thanksgiving is what I see in the movies – Family and enough food to last a few months! Anyway, away from American holidays, I am going to do top ten series I am thankful for! There are so many series that I just LOVE and I am not sure what I would do if they didn’t exist. Of course, I also have to narrow it down! In no particular order:

10. Shatter Me Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi. I adore this series!! Especially because this is the first book in which I fell in love with the seemingly evil character instead of the character that we are supposed to love!

9. Introductions, ghost bird Introductions by C. L. Stone. The Ghost Bird series is something that I am addicted to. I get withdrawal symptoms whilst having to wait for the next instalment.

8. game of thrones A Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin. This is a given – anything that is great on the big screen and in print is worth a spot on this list!

7. the selection The Selection by Kiera Cass. A dystopian version of The Bachelor – what’s not to love?

6. Daughter of smoke and bone Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor. “Once upon a time, an angel and a devil fell in love. It did not end well.”

5. cinder The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer. I was late to jump onto this bandwagon – but better late than never!

4. throne of glass Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas. I actually really need to catch up with this series, but I love what I have read of it!

3. Queen of Someday The Stolen Empire by Sherry D. Ficklin. Historical fiction… I adored this series from the very beginning and I cannot wait to read the last instalment.

2. defy Defy by Sara B. Larson. A strong female lead and a lot of action – anyone who doesn’t love this series lives clearly under a rock. Again, I cannot wait for the last instalment!

Hey guys! I realise I haven’t posted in the last couple of weeks – I seem to have spent most of my days sleeping! Problems of a pregnant woman! Either way, I am posting this Weeks TTT which is top ten books that feature diversity! So without further ado and in no particular order:

10. dragonlance Dragonlance by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman. These books feature a wide range of people, species and minorities in general. Plus, each person has their own demons and their own social problems to face!

9. Red Queen Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard. This book represents people of different classes and treatments based purely on the colour of their blood. I loved this book and can’t wait for the next one!!

8. pointe Pointe by Brandy Colbert. Abduction, anorexia, love interests etc. Do we need any more diversity?

7. Splintered Splintered by A. G. Howard. Despite the fact that this couldn’t be realistic in any sense or form, all you have to do is compare the characters that come from Wonderland to those who come from the real world to see the diversity. It is almost like a culture shock!

6. Shatter Me Shatter Me be Tahereh Mafi. A book with a minority of people who face a social stigma based on the fact that they have powers. Plus, you know, dystopian society and all that…

5. the selection The Selection by Kiera Cass. 35 girls, all from different upbringings, backgrounds, classes and locations.

4. two boys kissing Two Boys Kissing by David Levithan. Levithans books normally feature some form of diversity in it – so I decided to go with the first book of his that I ever read, which features gay teens as well as a chorus of men who passed away from aids and a bunch of teens facing problems of their own in relation to their sexuality.

3.the fat girl The Fat Girl by Marilyn Sachs. An overweight girl who faces the stigmas of high school society and an abusive relationship.

2. to all the boys I've loved before To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han. Our MC has a Korean background – so some of the culture differences show within this book is a form of diversity.

1. Divergent Divergent by Veronica Roth. Need I explain this one?
