The year is 2059. Nineteen-year-old Paige Mahoney is working in the criminal underworld of Scion London, based at Seven Dials, employed by a man named Jaxon Hall. Her job: to scout for information by breaking into people’s minds. For Paige is a dreamwalker, a clairvoyant and, in the world of Scion, she commits treason simply by breathing.

It is raining the day her life changes for ever. Attacked, drugged and kidnapped, Paige is transported to Oxford – a city kept secret for two hundred years, controlled by a powerful, otherworldly race. Paige is assigned to Warden, a Rephaite with mysterious motives. He is her master. Her trainer. Her natural enemy. But if Paige wants to regain her freedom she must allow herself to be nurtured in this prison where she is meant to die.

I have had this book on my TBR for ages now. It was one of those books where, I kept meaning to get a copy, but when I was book buying I would forget. However, I was sent this by a “Blind date” from Blind date with a book! I cannot even believe I let myself go this long without reading it! It was absolutely amazing and I loved everything about this world!

It took me a couple of pages to get into this book because the world and the people in it were intricate, but as soon as I was in, I was completely hooked! I loved the classing system for the various clairvoyants and the way in which everything was set up! As soon as I got my head around the various people and what they could do etc. it was extremely easy to follow. I also really enjoyed the world building – whether it was Scion London or Sheol I. I enjoyed the fact that they were based off of real places, and the world was created around what was already there and was created to be a futuristic version of London!

I really loved Paige as a character! She was strong willed and strong minded as well and she didn’t let her situation get her down. She made the best out of what was happening and she stayed true to herself, no matter what happened. I enjoyed watching her interact with Warden and the way that their relationship grew and changed throughout the book. Β I also loved watching her power grow and change and the way that she started accepting who and what she was, in a sense!

Warden!!! He is my new book baby! Even from the first moment where we were first introduced to him, there was something about him that I just absolutely loved and I really didn’t believe he was who we were being told that he was. There was something about him that made him more and I just loved getting to know him more throughout this book! There were times where I felt really really sorry for him because of everything that was going on etc. and I just wanted to wrap him up in bubble wrap and protect him. I would’ve loved to have read from his POV and to see what and how he thought throughout the book and the events that take place!

I really enjoyed the plot of this book as well. There was always something happening, whether a major thing or something smaller, but it helped to keep the reader on their toes. I don’t feel like this book was either plot or character based, but rather that they both complemented each other and that, when something happened plot wise, it helped our characters to grow and change and to adapt to the situation at hand. I loved watching things unfold!

All in all, I really loved this book and I loved watching everything unfold! It literally only took me this long to read it from starting it because I had no time to read and I hate that! All I wanted to do was sit down and get lost in this book! I gave this 5/5 stars.

Great review!I have also read it recently and I loved it though it took me a bit to understand the different classes of clarivoyants. The plot was great, i have already buy the second one to continue with the series πŸ™‚

Cool! I’ve heard mixed things about this one, but sounds like you enjoyed it. I think I already own it somewhere in my digital Mt. TBR…maybe I’ll need to go dig it up and check it out!

Great review for this book Lauren, and I am so so so glad you loved it as well. The Bone Season is one of my all-time favourite series, I think everything about it is just brilliant and honestly it gets better and better with each new release so you have a lot to look forwards to when you get around to The Mime Order and The Song Rising! πŸ˜€
The world-building in this series is wonderfully written, I enjoyed seeing places I knew from London in this new timeline, it made it even more interesting to read in my opinion, and oh the characters were just amazingly written as well.
I can’t wait to see your review for the next book in the series, do you plan to start it soon?
