Top Ten Tuesday

toptentuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the Broke and Bookish

Hey guys! It is time for another TTT. This week is freebie week because they have been unable to refresh the list due to personal reasons (let’s be honest, a break after 6,5 years is deserved!). So, I thought I would go through the previous topics and chose top ten authors who deserve more recognition! There are so many amazing authors out there who I feel definitely need to be seen and heard more purely because their writing and their books are just AMAZING!! So, without further ado, and in no particular order:

10. kate Katelyn Anderson – Kate is the author of the Tainted Souls trilogy which starts with Everlasting Flame! I absolutely love the first book in the series (she is currently wrapping up book 2!) and I definitely feel like this book needs more love! It is absolutely amazing and the MC is so sassy!

9. karen Karen Tomlinson – Karen is the author of A Bond of Venom and Magic (which Debuted last year), which belongs to the Goddess and the Guardians series! Book 2 is currently in the works (but I have already Beta read and it was FANTABULOUS!!) and I think any fantasy lover really needs to be reading this book!

8. candy-atkins Candy Atkins – Candy is the author of The Lost Knight series, which I fell in love with from the very first book! The first two books have been published and, lets just say, I read book 2 in one sitting it was THAT GOOD!!! Her work is definitely underrated and, can we just mention that the covers are so PRETTY!

7. kelly-charron Kelly Charron – Kelly is the author of Pretty Wicked which takes a unique view of serial killings! I say unique because, instead of being written from the view of the victim, it is written from the view of the Killer!!! It was definitely interesting to see the psychology behind the killer…

6. luke Luke Taylor – Luke is the author of quite a few different things, but I have personally only read Vault of Dreams which I adored! He has a very lyrical style of writing and I am so looking forward to some of the other works he is currently working on!

5. martina Martina McAtee – Soooo, I literally only finished Children Shouldn’t Play with Dead Things on Sunday, but it was SOOOO GOOOOOD and I feel like everyone should be reading this book!

4. melissa Melissa A. Craven – The Emerge series (whilst still being released etc.) is one of my favourites out there! I absolutely loved the first two books and I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am for book 3!

3. andrew-toy Andrew Toy – I have only read These Great Affects but it was just such an emotional ride!!

2. dyllin D. T. Dyllin – I read Somniare a while back and I still need to read the second book! However, it is a book set in a dreamworld state and it was so well executed and so unique!!

1. maria-padian Maria Padian – I read Wrecked quite a while back now which is about  college rape! It is so true to todays society and it definitely needs to be read by everyone!

That’s it! I love all of these authors and I definitely feel like their books need some more love going around!

The prophecy’s about you, Red…

Allie Carmichael has been haunted by those words for months. After dropping a huge bombshell and then leaving her in limbo, Greggory McBrien still hasn’t given her the answers she craves. The knowledge of her past and the absence of both Gregg and her father have left Allie an angry, twisted mess of emotions. She still feels an immeasurable amount of guilt for her mistakes that left her scarred for life and her friend, Quinn a captive of the Coalition. Allie finds herself constantly dancing on the edge of losing control of her power, too afraid to confide in anyone––even her handsome and broody best friend, Aidan.

A chance encounter at a dangerous nightclub reserved for Unproven Immortals, gives Allie and her friends the missing piece of the puzzle. If they have any hope of bringing Quinn home, they have to act quickly.

As Allie approaches her seventeenth birthday, the nightmares that only Aidan can keep at bay, return with a vengeance and she vows to finally face them on her own. But she struggles to understand what her clairvoyant gift is trying to tell her. When she finally begins to truly understand her gift, she fears it might be too late––and this time the price for her mistakes will be too high.

Last time she was afraid. This time she’s angry.

This book for me was a “Just one more chapter” kind of book. Next thing I knew it, it was the middle of the night, I finished the book and I still couldn’t get to sleep because it was just so dang awesome! I started this book yesterday and I finished this book yesterday… and now I am pining for even more!

I think the best thing about this book for me was the fact that it was really easy to get back into the swing of things without me having to re read the first book. I read the first book way back in May/April time and I have read a lot of books since then. It was extremely easy to get back into and it had prods and nudges in just the right places to remind me of what happened previously.

What I also loved about this book was the fact that we got to further explore Allie’s Clairvoyance gift. It was easy to tell when she was wondering a dreamscape and when she came back to reality, even without a definitive marker there to mark the difference. It was interesting to watch her trying to figure out what her gift was telling her and I loved watching it and trying to figure it out myself. I definitely feel like she has come a long way since the first book in terms of her gifts, and I am interested toes whether she will develop more or whether thats it.

I also loved Darius in this book! I feel like we definitely got to know him better and he is one of those characters that you wished really existed because he was just so awesome! It is easy to understand why Allie felt she could trust him and had fun with him.

The plot kept me interested along with the characters. There was always something going on and it was fun trying to figure out what was going to happen next! It kept a pretty steady pace and I don’t feel like there was ever a boring moment in there.

I do keep wondering what is with Allie’s mother though?!?

I really enjoyed this book and I cannot wait for the next instalment! This is definitely a series that everyone should be reading because it is just that cool! I gave this book 5/5 stars

The Awakening (Emerge 1) by Melissa A. Craven

emerge- The awakening

Allie Carmichael has always believed life is simple.
You’re born.
You live.
You die.
She has no cause to believe that equation works differently for her, but there has to be a reason the world treats her like a pariah.
When an unexpected move to Kelleys Island brings Aidan McBrien crashing into her life, Allie is thrown by his reaction. He doesn’t shrink from her touch. He doesn’t stutter or make a quick exit. He smiles and welcomes her into his circle of friends, who aren’t exactly comfortable with Allie, but they seem to get her in a way most people don’t.
Finally, Allie has a real shot at normal and rides that high right up to her sixteenth birthday when she wakes in agony—an experience Aidan insists they have all faced. She struggles in ignorance, uncertain of what is real and what isn’t. When she emerges, Allie is different. She has always been different, but even among her extraordinary friends, she and Aidan are special.
As Allie struggles to maintain her tenuous grasp on the power that threatens to overwhelm her, she worries she will lose herself in this strange new world. A dangerous world where she will have to fight tooth and nail to defend the power and freedom that is her birthright.
…only Allie hates to fight. (Goodreads)

Note: I received a free ebook in return for an honest review.

I pretty much added this book to my TBR list as soon as I requested a copy from Netgalley. I am so glad I actually requested a copy of this book because it was amazing. I mean, there were a couple of places in which I was just thinking Twilight, but mostly it wasn’t that bad.

I really liked Allie. She was confident, sarcastic and witty and she didn’t have problem standing up for herself. I feel like she got a little bit weaker after she became immortal because everyone was trying to molly coddle her, which really kinda bugged me. I was hoping they would leave her alone some s that she could get some of her spark back. Having said that, it is easy to understand why they would try and keep her close, because she was wholly unprepared for what happened.

My shipping team changed throughout the book. At the beginning I was totally #TeamAiden, then #TeamVince and then (including now) I am #TeamNobody… I do not ship any of the relationships that Allie had with the two guys. I am hoping that her complement will be somebody who is totally unexpected. I think I will be disappointed if it turns out to be someone really obvious. Having said that, I still really like Vince and Aiden as people.

The ending was too sudden. I was reading and reading and reading and then Acknowledgements. It was a cliff hanger and a half and I didn’t like it. I was expecting it to end so suddenly and I feel like it deterred from the story. I literally need the next book… like right now. I guess it is a good way to keep the readers waiting…

I really enjoyed this book and I am looking forward to reading both the novella from Aiden’s point of view and the next book, whenever that comes out! I gave this book 4/5 stars.

Grab your copy! Amazon.

Hey guys!! It has been another week already, which I find pretty dang crazy!! I wasn’t actually planning to get any new books this week, because of my little spree last week. However, Netgalley is a bad addiction for me…

invisible I am Invisible-I-Am by Gregg Davis (and Harriet Showman) – I was drawn in by the premise, but the book was a major disappointment for me personally and I ended up DNFing it. This book was published last year, so it was a free ebook in return for an honest review. My Review. Amazon.

wrecked maria Wrecked by Maria Padian – I received an ARC copy of this book from Netgalley in return for an honest review. I actually really enjoyed this book and would be happy to buy a physical copy when it comes out in October! My Review. Amazon.

emerge- The awakening The Awakening (Emerge #1) – I am currently reading this book and it is pretty good so far 🙂 So, go netgalley!! Amazon.

camp outlook Camp Outlook by Brenda Baker – I actually quite enjoyed this book, with a few points that were’t so good. I think this book sent a pretty powerful message across… Again, this was a book given to me for review. My Review. Amazon.

first kiss First Kiss by C. L. Stone – I am on the mailing list for all of C. L. Stone’s new books, so I was happy when this came into my inbox!! This comes out 25th April 🙂 Amazon.

So, that is it for me! I will try and stay away from Netgalley next week… I really need to get through the books I have! What have you guys added this week? Feel free to leave links and comments and I will check them all out!
