Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the Broke and Bookish

Hey guys! It is time for another TTT and this week is it top ten books I read in one sitting! I’m going to show off the books that I read relatively quickly – because reading in one sitting is almost impossible with a 1 year old! 😛

10. this is where it ends This is Where is Ends by Marieke Nijkamp – This I actually did read in one sitting and it was AWESOME!!

9. follow-me-back Follow me Back by A. V. Geiger – I actually read an ARC of this because it doesn’t release until June and it was just so addictive! I just HAD to find out what happened… and the very last page was worth everything!!

8. abovam A Bond of Venom and Magic by Karen Tomlinson – This book… Just… THIS BOOK!!!

7. One_final The One by Kiera Cass – I actually read this in one sitting on the day that it released! I waited a really long time for this book and it was just everything I wanted!

6. Dangerous Girls Dangerous Girls by Abigail Haas – I was actually in hospital when I read this and I basically didn’t move until I had finished… It was AMAZING!

5. spelled Spelled by Betsy Schow – This was a major laugh out loud for me and one that I am constantly recommending!

4. only ever yours Only Ever Yours by Louise O’Neill – I think for anyone who has read this book, it’s an obvious choice. If you haven’t … WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN HIDING!!

3. forbidden Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma – I was so worried going into this because of the taboo subject matter… but I read it extremely quickly and it was done so well!

2. rites of passage Rites of Passage by Joy. N. Hensley – I normally would never have picked this up based on the cover! I absolutely hate most things to do with the army/war when it comes to books and film… however,I am so thankful to the blog (I can’t remember who it was anymore it was so long ago) who wrote a glowing review of this because I ADORED IT!!

1. Asking for it Asking For It by Louise O’Neill – This author again! This book was also absolutely amazing and thought provoking and I just want more from this author!

That’s it! These are the books that I read in one sitting or relatively quickly! Have you read any of these?

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the Broke and Bookish

Hey guys! It is time for another TTT! This weeks topic is top ten books that I wish had more/less X in them. Now, I read this and I was literally stumped. So, I’ve decided to change it up just a little bit and I am going with top ten books that needed that little extra spark! I’m going to explain my reasons for each book! So, in no particular order:

10. this savage song This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab – I read this and I thought that the writing was absolutely fantastic… but I felt like the plot was lacking and it missed that extra spark to push it over the edge.

9. never never part three Never Never Part Three by Colleen Hoover and Tarryn Fisher – The first two books in this series were absolutely amazing and they had me turning the pages and wanting to know more. However, when the explanation came in this final instalment, the spark sort of fizzed out because I feel like it was a complete cliche.

8. the-accident-season The Accident Season by Moira Fowley – Doyle – I had heard some really great things about this, so I was really excited about getting around to it. However, I felt like the plot was a little slow and it lacked originality… which affected the spark!

7. labyrinth Lost Labyrinth Lost by Zoraida Cordova – I feel like the relationships between some of the characters was really lacking, and I think that is one of the most important things in a book!

6. shooter Shooter by Caroline Pignat – I was expecting so much more from this book, but I was left disappointed. I expected something a little more to do with a school shooting and less to do with teenage angst. I feel like this book suffered because of it!

5. the leaving The Leaving by Tara Altebrando – This book was completely underwhelming in so many ways because it just lacked the spark in the sense that it lacked originality…

4. with-malice With Malice by Eileen Cook – I feel like, had Dangerous Girls not been published earlier this might have been successful, but it lacked the spark because it was just too similar!

3. the shadow queen The Shadow Queen by C. J. Redwine – I feel like it lacked the magic of the original and I was severely underwhelmed by it

2. the crowns game The Crown’s Game by Evelyn Skye – I think maybe this suffered the hype monster because it just wasn’t as good as I thought it would be

1. The Heir The Heir by Kiera Cass – I absolutely loved the first three books, but I feel like this book in particular lacked the magic the first three because I disliked the MC.

That’s it from me! Do you agree with any of these?

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the Broke and Bookish

Hey guys!! It is time for another TTT and this week I am being resourceful for once and I am writing this on a Monday evening whilst my son is in bed!! I tend to write these posts with my son making a grab for my laptop! 😀 I call this progress ;-). This weeks topic is Books that I have read based on other reviewers recommendations/reviews. I have picked up quite a few books because I have read reviews and Just think that I have to read it! So, these are my top ten, and in no particular order:

10. the girl with all the gifts The Girl with All the Gifts by M. R. Carey. I read this pretty recently, but I think I would never have picked it up if I hadn’tve read it if I didn’t read Cait’s review first. If you don’t know who Cait is, then clearly you live under a rock! Her reviews are always amazing, whether good or bad, and I absolutely lover her! Check out Paper Fury!

9. throne of glass Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas – Way back when I first started out, I followed a blog called Rainy Tree Reader, and a lot of the books that she read and reviewed were books that I ended up picking up purely because I loved her review style. Sadly, Danica doesn’t write anymore, which I find sad, but I like to go back to her site every now and then.

8. the lost knight The Lost Knight by Candy Atkins. I Actually first heard of this book thanks to Olivia at Heir of Glitter. I added it onto my TBR thanks to her review and I snagged a review copy from Xpresso Tours recently and I LOVED it! I am so stoked for book 2!

7. IMG_0720 Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes. I didn’t pick this book up based on one particular reviewer, more like I saw so many amazing reviews that I decided to finally buy a copy! I still need to read the rest of this series, but the first book was amazing!

6. the selection The Selection by Kiera Cass. Again, I loved the raving review from Danica at Rainy Tree Reader and added it to my TBR pretty much right away. I absolutely loved this series and I cannot wait to see more from this author.

5. Shatter Me Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi. To be honest, I don’t even remember who I saw this from! I remember seeing a raving review and the cover is obviously to die for, so I went ahead and read it! One of my all time favourite series! 😀

4. forbidden Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma. I have a lot to the Danica for. I wish she still wrote! This is one of my ALL TIME favourite stand alones!

3. cinder Cinder by Marissa Meyer – Again, this book I picked up based on the multiple raving reviews I read! I still need to read Winter, though. Casually kicking myself right about now!

2. Daughter of smoke and bone Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor – Again, a whole bunch of raving reviews! I cannot wait for this authors next book!

1. dragonlance The Dragonlance Chronicles by Magaret Weis and Tracy Hickman – My dad owns these books and he recommended them to me ages ago, when I was still in school. I gobbled them all up!! The chronicles and the Dragonlance Legends are are amazing and I recommend them to absolutely everybody! Start with the Chronicles and go onto the Legends afterward! 😀

Thats it from me! So thank you to all you amazing people for recommending and reading and being generally awesome 🙂

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the Broke and Bookish

Hey guys! Firstly, I just want to say happy blogoversary to the Broke and Bookish! 6 years is a long time! This weeks TTT is top ten favourite releases of 2016 so far. A couple of these books haven’t been released this year yet and some of the books were released last year because I haven’t read 10 books that have been released this year so far! I’m a rebel, what can I say? In no particular order:

10. the crown The Crown by Kiera Cass. Published May 3rd by HarperTeen. I loved the entirety of The Selection series! So, you can imagine my relief when my wait for this book was finally over!

9. ACOMAF A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas Published May 3rd by Bloomsbury USA Children’s. This was the book of the year for me! I bought this book the day it came out on my kindle, I read it, and then went and bought a physical copy of the book – I am that much in love!

8. Glass sword Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard. Published February 9th by HarperTeen. Again, another book I bought myself a physical copy of for myself, because it is another series that I love! Plus, the title for the third book is being released tomorrow by Epic Reads – if anyone is interested!

7. wink poppy midnight Wink Poppy Midnight by April Genevieve Tucholke. Published March 22nd by Dial Books. If your looking for a book that isn’t all that it seems that is full of a bunch of whacked out teenagers… then this book is perfect for you!

6. this is where it ends This is Where it Ends by Marieke Nijkamp. Published January 5th by Sourcebooks Fire. I hyped this book up to myself long before its release date and it didn’t disappoint! i had been looking for a book that took place during the shooting for quite some time and this book delivered in every way!

5. wrecked maria Wrecked by Maria Padian. Publish date October 4th 2016 by Algonquin Young Readers. ok, so technically, this book doesn’t belong on this list because it has yet to be released. However, I am a rebel. I read an ARC copy of this book and I loved it! Such a unique take on sexual assault!

4. one was lost One Was Lost by Natalie D. Richards. Publish Date October 4th 2016 by Sourcebooks Fire. Another book that technically shouldn’t make this list. However, I read an ARC over the weekend and it was an amazing read!

3. endure Endure by Sara B. Larson. Published December 29th 2015 by Scholastic Press. This was the third and final instalment in the Defy series and I was sorry to see it end!

2. spelled Spelled by Betsy Schow. Published June 2nd 2015 by Sourcebooks Fire. This book had me laughing out loud – in a pretty unladylike manner – and I had stitches in places I didn’t even know existed! Definitely worth the read!

1. what we sa What We Saw by Aaron Hartzler. Published September 22nd 2015 by HarperTeen. This book was based on a true story (The Steubenville High School Rape Case) and I think it represented the controversy of the case well. It deals with some really tough issues and highlights important ones too!

That’s me! I loved all of these books! What books have been your favourites so far this year? Feel free to leave links and comments and I will check them all out!

Stacking the Shelves

Stacking the shelves

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews

Hey guys! So, clearly I cannot be trusted with Amazon or a book store… and I have no self discipline!! I told myself I would’t buy any new books because I have so many, but I did…

the crown The Crown by Kiera Cass – I have been waiting for this book for over a year and I have already read it and I loved it!!

ACOMAF A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas – I think this book is on everyone’s TBR! So, I grabbed a copy on May 3rd and I have just started reading it!

the lie tree The Lie Tree by Frances Hardinge – I think I was drawn to this book by the cover… plus I have had it on my TBR for a while! So obviously I couldn’t resist…

down with the shine Down With the Shine by Kate Karyus Quinn – I have had this on my TBR for ages and I was upset when I wasn’t able to get an ARC copy!! This book definitely looks like something I am going to really enjoy, so I really look forward to reading this book!

invisible I am Invisible I Am by Harriet Showman – For regular readers of my blog, your probably thinking “but she already read (DNFed) and reviewed this book.” Well, the author contacted me on Goodreads, both to thank me for my review and because she found out (through my review) that the version on Netgalley was a broken version when downloaded onto some e readers. I mean this in the sense that some words were either missing or there were letters missing from the words etc, which isn’t what she was intending for the readers to see! So, I offered to re read the book and she sent me a copy which has all the letters there!

What have you guys added? Feel free to leave links and I will check them all out!

The Crown by Kiera Cass

the crown

The Crown by Kiera Cass.

Amazon

When Eadlyn became the first princess of Illéa to hold her own Selection, she didn’t think she would fall in love with any of her thirty-five suitors. She spent the first few weeks of the competition counting down the days until she could send them all home. But as events at the palace force Eadlyn even further into the spotlight, she realizes that she might not be content remaining alone.

Eadlyn still isn’t sure she’ll find the fairytale ending her parents did twenty years ago. But sometimes the heart has a way of surprising you…and soon Eadlyn must make a choice that feels more impossible—and more important—than she ever imagined.

I have been waiting patiently for this book for an entire year. A year! Can you imagine what that is like?!? Well, I suppose you bookworms can, but for those who read my blog who are not necessarily bookworms… it was one of the longest waits of my entire life. That being said, this book was definitely worth the wait!! I loved it!!

Eadlyn as a characters really showed development throughout this book from the previous one from someone who was snobby and self centred to someone who actually thought of others before she decided to act on something. In The Heir, she was a difficult character to like because of her attitude and behaviour toward other people and the way in which she held herself highly and considered herself to be above others. In this book, she actually stops to think about how she could improve the state of the country and she puts other people and their needs before her own.

The boys. Of course I liked all of the Elite. There was however one special someone who had already stolen my heart from the very beginning of Eady’s story (The Heir) which basically meant I already had my ship to begin with. This book just made me ship them even stronger! When I thought that they weren’t going to get together in the end, I was pretty upset, but then they did and I was left lying in bed, doing a little jig of victory when in actual fact I should have been sleeping like any normal person would be doing with a 7 month old baby at 23:00!! I just couldn’t put this book down though! Clearly I cannot say who it was because that would just ruin all the fun for the people who still need to read this book!

I think the stigma shown towards people of what would have been from the lower castes and other people who are, for example homosexual (talking about you, here, elite!), was very true to the stigma’s that some people still face today for exactly the same issues. I think, in this way, Cass did a pretty good job of making the society relevant and relatable to today’s society!

Of course, there had to be a kink in the form of some horrible character who decides they need to destroy everything. Marid, I trusted you and you let me down. I genuinely thought he wanted to help. I probably should have been so trusting of the son of the two people who rebelled against the monarchy during America’s selection!!

I really adored this book and I am actually pretty sad to see this series come to an end (again!). i would happily have this series continue just so I could see Eady and … be happy and what actually comes of the country after she imposes her new and very exciting changes!! 🙂 I gave this book 5/5 stars.

Have you read this book? If so, what did you think of it? If you have reviewed to, leave a link!

Throwback Thursday

Hey guys! 🙂 It is time for another Throwback Thursday. I think this week’s TT is going to be tribute to the first book in a series that is now coming to end on may 3rd. I loved this series from the beginning and I was so happy when I found out there was going to be another two book in the supposed trilogy to make it… five books… whatever the ology is for that!

the selection

The Selection by Kiera Cass

For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in a palace and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon.

But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn’t want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.

Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she’s made for herself—and realizes that the life she’s always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.

The Crown is being released at the beginning of May, and I am sad that this series is coming to an end… again! What are your Throwback Thursdays?

Amazon.

Waiting on Wednesday

WoW

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted at Breaking the Spine.

Hey guys! Is it me or does time seem to be flying recently?? It is time for another wow! 🙂 I have been waiting for this book for what has felt like eons of time and it is finally going to be released very soon!! I also read an excerpt of it yesterday and I am pining!

the crown

The Crown by Kiera Cass

Expected publication: May 3rd 2016

Twenty years have passed since the events of The One, and America and Maxon’s daughter is the first princess to hold a Selection of her own. Princess Eadlyn didn’t think she would find a real partner among the Selection’s thirty-five suitors, let alone true love. But sometimes the heart has a way of surprising you… and now Eadlyn must make a choice that feels more difficult—and more important—than she ever expected.

The Selection series has sold more than 3 million copies and captured the hearts of fans around the world. This swoon-worthy final installment is the happily ever after they’ve all been waiting for.

I absolutely adore this series! I know who I want it to be, but I don’t think it is going to happen!!

What are you waiting on? Feel free to let me know in the comments!

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the Broke and Bookish.

Hey guys!! Hope you all had a great christmas and got everything that you all wanted and had fun rocking around the tree! 🙂 This weeks TTT is top ten most anticipated releases for the first half of 2016 – but I will probably just go for the whole of 2016! So, in no particular order:

10. the crown The Crown by Kiera Cass. This really is the last instalment in the Selection set and I just cannot wait!

9. this is where it ends This is Where it Ends by Marieke Nijkamp I literally cannot wait to read this book!! I love books with themes like this and I just … need it!

8. Glass sword Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard. I think as an official member of the Scarlet Guard, it is my duty to pine for this book… which I was doing even before I became a member!

7. heartless Heartless by Marissa Meyer This is not the official cover, but good enough for the point – if this book is anywhere near as good as the Lunar Chronicles, then we are in for a treat!

6. Lady Renegades Lady Renegades by Rachel Hawkins. For anyone who read my reviews of the first two, I was less than impressed. Having said that, I am willing to give this series a chance to get the finale right!

5. endure Endure by Sara B. Larson. I adore this series and I literally cannot wait for this instalment!

4. Furthermore Furthermore by Tahereh Mafi. Again, I adore Mafi’s writing, so I cannot wait to see what she in store for us next!

3. the may queen murders The May Queen Murders by Sarah Jude. I know nothing about this author – but the premise looks promising! 🙂

2. shiny broken pieces Shiny Broken Pieces by Sona Charaiporta and Dhonielle Clayton. I LOVED Tiny Pretty Things!!! So, it is obvious that I need this book!

1. Hoax by C. L. Stone. This doesn’t have any form of cover whatsoever and also no premise! It is, however, the 5th in the Scarab Beetle series and I can’t wait!

Thats it!! What are you guys waiting on? Feel free to leave links and answers below!
