Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the Broke and Bookish

Hey guys! It is time for another TTT and this weeks topic is top ten of the most unique books I’ve read. I’ve definitely read some unique books and I am really excited about showing them off! so, in no particular order:

10. Dangerous Girls Dangerous Girls by Abigail Haas – This book was extremely unique and I was hooked from the very beginning! AND THAT ENDING!

9. only ever yours Only Ever Yours by Louise O’Neill – This book… Just… THIS BOOK. It is so disturbing and so close to true society it’s unreal!

8. forbidden Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma – This is the only book that I have read, or even seen, with this kind of subject matter.

7. Unknown Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff – What makes this book (along with the sequel) so unique is the way in which it is set up. It is not written like a normal book, but more like a case file/dossier with hacked files, Its etc. I absolutely loved it!

6. six-of-crows Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo – The characters made this duology special because each and every one of them had their own back story and had their own talents to add to the group!

5. Asking for it Asking for It by Louise O’Neill – This is a completely raw look at how sexual abuse is viewed in our society today and the way in which victims are really treated – especially on social media. Just the emotions it provokes alone makes this book unique!

4. this is where it ends This is Where it Ends by Marieke Nijkamp – This is the first, and only, book on this particular subject matter that really had me hooked and bawling by the end of it!

3. spelled Spelled by Betsy Schow – This is my favourite favourite of all retellings! I think this uniqueness will shine on its own if you read it!

2. the walls around us The Walls Around Us by Nova Ren Suma – I think the imagery in this book and the way it is told… it could be confusing at times, but at the same time it kept me hooked!

1. pretty-wicked Pretty Wicked by Kelly Charron – The way in which we get into the mindset of the character in this book… which just happens to be a serial killer. The psychology the author managed to portray through this character within the book was unique!

Have you read any of these? Do you agree with my choices?

Hey guys! It is time for another TTT and this week is it top ten books I read in one sitting! I’m going to show off the books that I read relatively quickly – because reading in one sitting is almost impossible with a 1 year old! 😛

10. this is where it ends This is Where is Ends by Marieke Nijkamp – This I actually did read in one sitting and it was AWESOME!!

9. follow-me-back Follow me Back by A. V. Geiger – I actually read an ARC of this because it doesn’t release until June and it was just so addictive! I just HAD to find out what happened… and the very last page was worth everything!!

8. abovam A Bond of Venom and Magic by Karen Tomlinson – This book… Just… THIS BOOK!!!

7. One_final The One by Kiera Cass – I actually read this in one sitting on the day that it released! I waited a really long time for this book and it was just everything I wanted!

6. Dangerous Girls Dangerous Girls by Abigail Haas – I was actually in hospital when I read this and I basically didn’t move until I had finished… It was AMAZING!

5. spelled Spelled by Betsy Schow – This was a major laugh out loud for me and one that I am constantly recommending!

4. only ever yours Only Ever Yours by Louise O’Neill – I think for anyone who has read this book, it’s an obvious choice. If you haven’t … WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN HIDING!!

3. forbidden Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma – I was so worried going into this because of the taboo subject matter… but I read it extremely quickly and it was done so well!

2. rites of passage Rites of Passage by Joy. N. Hensley – I normally would never have picked this up based on the cover! I absolutely hate most things to do with the army/war when it comes to books and film… however,I am so thankful to the blog (I can’t remember who it was anymore it was so long ago) who wrote a glowing review of this because I ADORED IT!!

1. Asking for it Asking For It by Louise O’Neill – This author again! This book was also absolutely amazing and thought provoking and I just want more from this author!

That’s it! These are the books that I read in one sitting or relatively quickly! Have you read any of these?

4. flame in the mist Flame in the Mist by Renee Ahdieh – I was really disappointed with TWATD, so I am hoping I fall in love with this one!

3. spindle fire Spindle Fire by Lexa Hillyer – Sleeping Beauty is one of my favourites, so I am so excited for this release!

2. Dream Fall Dreamfall by Amy Plum – I literally just found this book and the plot has me hooked! I also have her other series on my TBR, which means I should get to it real soon!

1. BRave New Girl Brave New Girl by Rachel Vincent – I definitely feel like this could be on par with Only Ever Yours and I look forward to seeing what the author has done! 😀

That’s it for this Spring! There were so many books to choose from!

Hey guys! TTT is still on hiatus and the list hasn’t been updated yet (which we don’t mind because everyone deserves a break!), so I thought that I would do another past theme that I quite like and never did. So, I’ve decided to do top ten books that I HAD to buy, but haven’t actually read yet! so without further ado and in no particular order, here are the books sitting on my shelves, laughing at me:

10: ice like fire Ice Like Fire by Sara Raasch – I actually have a copy of this on my kindle and have done since the end of 2015!! This is a painful amount of time to have a book and not have read it!

9. rebel of the sands Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton – Again, I have this on my kindle and downloaded it sort of middle of last year? After all the good things I heard about it, I just couldn’t resist and I just haven’t picked it up yet!!

8. the-thousandth-floor The Thousandth Floor by Katharine McGee – I have a beautiful hardback copy of this book and I have been meaning to get to this for AGES!! I can’t believe I haven’t yet!

7. the winners kiss The Winner’s Kiss by Marie Rutkoski – I really enjoyed the first two instalments of this series and I have had this book on my shelf for a while now… I really should finish this series off!

6. replica.jpg Replica by Lauren Oliver – I have a paperback of this on my shelf and it is so beautiful! I have heard such amazing things about this and I just NEED TO PICK IT UP! However, every time I think about picking it up, my brain goes into overdrive with all the possibilities of how to read it…

5. the kiss of deception Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson – Ok, before you chase me with a frying pan, I have a copy of this on my shelf! I have heard so many amazing things about this book – however, I have the paperback and it is so floppy and difficult to hold… and the paper is like bible paper, so I’m thinking about ordering a hardback before reading it!

4. The Diabolic.JPG The Diabolic by S. J. Kincaid – I have heard fantastic things about this book and I can’t believe I haven’t even picked it up yet!

3. court of fives Court of Fives by Kate Elliott – I can’t actually remember when I downloaded this onto my kindle? I just know that it has been ages since and I haven’t picked it up yet because I need to be kicked…

2. the lie tree The Lie Tree by Frances Hardinge – I’ve had a paperback of this for ages now and I keep saying that I will get to it and I even posted on instagram that I would get to it… and I just haven’t. I WILL GET TO IT!! *Ahem*

1. rebel spring Rebel Spring by Morgan Rhodes – I really enjoyed Falling Kingdoms and I did actually start this at one point, but I think I fell ill or something and then I fell into a reading slump, so I decided to stop before I ruined the book for myself! I need to pick it up again! 😀

I definitely feel guilty about not having picked these up yet because I have definitely heard some amazing things about all of these! I solemnly swear that I will pick these up!

Hey guys! It is time for another TTT. This week is freebie week because they have been unable to refresh the list due to personal reasons (let’s be honest, a break after 6,5 years is deserved!). So, I thought I would go through the previous topics and chose top ten authors who deserve more recognition! There are so many amazing authors out there who I feel definitely need to be seen and heard more purely because their writing and their books are just AMAZING!! So, without further ado, and in no particular order:

10. kate Katelyn Anderson – Kate is the author of the Tainted Souls trilogy which starts with Everlasting Flame! I absolutely love the first book in the series (she is currently wrapping up book 2!) and I definitely feel like this book needs more love! It is absolutely amazing and the MC is so sassy!

9. karen Karen Tomlinson – Karen is the author of A Bond of Venom and Magic (which Debuted last year), which belongs to the Goddess and the Guardians series! Book 2 is currently in the works (but I have already Beta read and it was FANTABULOUS!!) and I think any fantasy lover really needs to be reading this book!

8. candy-atkins Candy Atkins – Candy is the author of The Lost Knight series, which I fell in love with from the very first book! The first two books have been published and, lets just say, I read book 2 in one sitting it was THAT GOOD!!! Her work is definitely underrated and, can we just mention that the covers are so PRETTY!

7. kelly-charron Kelly Charron – Kelly is the author of Pretty Wicked which takes a unique view of serial killings! I say unique because, instead of being written from the view of the victim, it is written from the view of the Killer!!! It was definitely interesting to see the psychology behind the killer…

6. luke Luke Taylor – Luke is the author of quite a few different things, but I have personally only read Vault of Dreams which I adored! He has a very lyrical style of writing and I am so looking forward to some of the other works he is currently working on!

5. martina Martina McAtee – Soooo, I literally only finished Children Shouldn’t Play with Dead Things on Sunday, but it was SOOOO GOOOOOD and I feel like everyone should be reading this book!

4. melissa Melissa A. Craven – The Emerge series (whilst still being released etc.) is one of my favourites out there! I absolutely loved the first two books and I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am for book 3!

3. andrew-toy Andrew Toy – I have only read These Great Affects but it was just such an emotional ride!!

2. dyllin D. T. Dyllin – I read Somniare a while back and I still need to read the second book! However, it is a book set in a dreamworld state and it was so well executed and so unique!!

1. maria-padian Maria Padian – I read Wrecked quite a while back now which is about  college rape! It is so true to todays society and it definitely needs to be read by everyone!

That’s it! I love all of these authors and I definitely feel like their books need some more love going around!

Hey guys! First of all, happy valentines day to everyone who celebrates it! I hope you all have an amazing day with loves, both old and new! This weeks TTT is sticking to the theme of valentines with the theme of romance tropes! There are so many things you can do with this, but I am going to go with my top ten ships! I love reading books with the right ships with slow burning romances and I want to share my favourite ships with you guys this week! There may be a couple of ships in there that either sunk or are still not so clear because the series is still going! So, in no particular order…

10. ACOMAF Feyre and Rhysand – I think that Rhys is completely dreamy and I absolutely love the relationship that Feyre and Rhys have and I am SO looking forward to seeing more of them in May

9. img_2035 All of the ships in Six of Crows, but especially Kaz and Inej – So, I totally shippity ship all of our tropes in this book, but my major ship is Inej and Kaz because I feel like they deserve it the most after everything they have been through in life and I feel like the deserve it most because of everything they still have to go through before they get there…

8. abovam Hugo and Diamond – I adored their relationship from the very beginning and it gets so much more intense in the second book! I absolutely cannot wait to see more of these two in the future!

7. Empire of Storms Aelin and Rowan – These two are one of my favourite ships of ever because of everything that happened! I also think that, after the ending, it completely cemented the ship in my mind!

6. img_1970 Henrietta and Blackwood – Ok, so, this ship hasn’t actually happened… but I have a really good feeling about it and it is the ship that I am on for this series… I am hoping it goes that way!

5. Red Queen Mare and Maven – I am actually currently reading King’s Cage (at the time of writing which is Sunday evening), and I have, and continue, to ship the idea of Maven and Mare. I definitely feel that there is room for redemption in there and I am hoping that my ship does not sink! #TeamMaven

4. shadow and bone Darkling and Alina – Ok, so this ship sunk. I rode the ship of hope the entire way through the book and I was really upset with the ending! I definitely feel like these two had a much better connection than the ship that was followed…

3. Splintered Alyssa and Morpheus – This was my favourite ship throughout this entire series! I was dissatisfied with how things were figured out at the end, but I am glad it sort of worked out!

2. Shatter Me Juliette and Warner – These two!! I was #TeamWarner from the very beginning and this is and will always remain one of my favourite ships!

1. the selection America and Maxon – I loved watching these two interacting and I did really enjoy the romance within this book – despite the mixed opinions!

What do you guys think of these ships? Do you agree with them or did you have different ships?

Hey guys! It is time for another TTT! This weeks topic is top ten books that I wish had more/less X in them. Now, I read this and I was literally stumped. So, I’ve decided to change it up just a little bit and I am going with top ten books that needed that little extra spark! I’m going to explain my reasons for each book! So, in no particular order:

10. this savage song This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab – I read this and I thought that the writing was absolutely fantastic… but I felt like the plot was lacking and it missed that extra spark to push it over the edge.

9. never never part three Never Never Part Three by Colleen Hoover and Tarryn Fisher – The first two books in this series were absolutely amazing and they had me turning the pages and wanting to know more. However, when the explanation came in this final instalment, the spark sort of fizzed out because I feel like it was a complete cliche.

8. the-accident-season The Accident Season by Moira Fowley – Doyle – I had heard some really great things about this, so I was really excited about getting around to it. However, I felt like the plot was a little slow and it lacked originality… which affected the spark!

7. labyrinth Lost Labyrinth Lost by Zoraida Cordova – I feel like the relationships between some of the characters was really lacking, and I think that is one of the most important things in a book!

6. shooter Shooter by Caroline Pignat – I was expecting so much more from this book, but I was left disappointed. I expected something a little more to do with a school shooting and less to do with teenage angst. I feel like this book suffered because of it!

5. the leaving The Leaving by Tara Altebrando – This book was completely underwhelming in so many ways because it just lacked the spark in the sense that it lacked originality…

4. with-malice With Malice by Eileen Cook – I feel like, had Dangerous Girls not been published earlier this might have been successful, but it lacked the spark because it was just too similar!

3. the shadow queen The Shadow Queen by C. J. Redwine – I feel like it lacked the magic of the original and I was severely underwhelmed by it

2. the crowns game The Crown’s Game by Evelyn Skye – I think maybe this suffered the hype monster because it just wasn’t as good as I thought it would be

1. The Heir The Heir by Kiera Cass – I absolutely loved the first three books, but I feel like this book in particular lacked the magic the first three because I disliked the MC.

That’s it from me! Do you agree with any of these?

Hey guys! It has been a while since I did one of these, but I am definitely excited to be joining in again – especially because this week is all about hidden gems! This weeks topic is top ten hidden gems (I’m going to go for hidden gems that I have read in general, rather than in the past year). Without further ado, and in no particular order:

10. these-great-affects-cover-2 These Great Affects by Andrew Toy – I read this a few months back after receiving an ARC from the author, and I absolutely loved it! It was extremely emotional and it is a book that will always stay with me!

9. everlasting-flame Everlasting Flame by Katelyn Anderson – There are literally no words to describe just how much I love this book!! The MC is witty and hilarious – and it will rip you apart at the same time… I need the next book like now!

8. spelled Spelled by Betsy Schow – Anyone who knows me, knows my love for this book. It is absolutely hilarious and is definitely a unique twist on all of the fairytales you know! In short… go read it!

7. emerge- The awakening The Awakening by Melissa A. Craven – This is a series that hooked me last year! The second book came out recently and I loved that one even more than the first! It is definitely book that more people need to be checking out!

6. abovam A Bond of Venom and Magic by Karen Tomlinson – This book. I just… This was my favourite book of 2016. Let’s put that one out there. This book needs more love and attention because it is AMAZING!!!!

5. pretty-wicked Pretty Wicked by Kelly Charron – This was a complete unique take on a murder book… told from the perspective of our murderer, instead of someone trying to figure out who the murderer is!!

4. forbidden Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma – Ok, I read this book way back in 2014. A lot of people have read, there is a lot of ratings on Goodreads, but I still feel like this is, in a way, a hidden gem. The subject matter is so taboo, that I can imagine a lot of people won’t read it based purely on the subject matter. This book should be read, though, by absolutely everyone. This book broke me in all the best and worst ways possible and, despite the fact it has now been three years, I could bawl my eyes out just thinking about this book. Therefore… I am going to move on…

3. somniare Somniare by D. T. Dyllin – I went into this book pretty cautiously, but I absolutely loved it! There was always something happening which kept me on the edge of my seat!

2. dear Charlie Dear Charlie by N. D. Gomes – I am always on the lookout for unique books on school shootings, and this one was one of those! It was interesting to read from the perspective of the family of the shooter and what they deal with after such a horrific incident takes place!

1. vault of dreams Vault of Dreams by Luke Taylor – This is another book that I read last year and I absolutely adored it!! I cannot wait to read more from this author!

That is it from me! Have you read any of these? Did you enjoy them? Feel free to leave links and comments and I will check them all out!

2. betsy-schow Betsy Schow – Spelled is one of my all time favourite retellings! I was crying, it was just that funny and I cannot even begin to tell you guys my excitement over Wanted!

1. karen Karen Tomlinson – Ok, so technically she is a debut author, however, A Bond of Venom and Magic was my favourite read of 2016, so I just had to include her! I absolutely love this author, plus she is extremely friendly! 😀

That’s it from me! These were all new to me authors this year and I am so glad I picked up books from all of these authors! I look forward to reading more from them!

4. this is where it ends This is Where it Ends by Marieke Niejkamp – I am always on the look out for books with this kind of subject matter and this is by far one of my favourites! I read it in one sitting and I was absolutely bawling my eyes out by then end of it!

3. what we sa What We Saw by Aaron Hartzler – This book was a real eye opener on current issues with social media and sexual assault on teens. It was based on a true story and it was absolutely heart breaking!

2. rites of passage Rites of Passage by Joy N. Hensley – Do not let this cover fool you! I normally would never have picked this book up based purely on the cover, but it was AMAZING!!! Full of action the whole way through!

1. forbidden Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma – This is a major taboo subject… but it makes the reader root for all the wrong things and it was written in the best possible way! I loved every second of it!

These are just some of my favourite books out there, but I had to choose 10!

What are some of your favourite books? Feel free to leave links and comments and I will check them all out!
